Can You Increase Metabolism
Increasing metabolism can increase the amount of calories that you burn and thus help you to lose weight. This is often the reason that most people want to increase their metabolism but is it easy to do ?
There are many different products on the market that claim to be able to boost metabolism but if you read the fine print on many of these products you will see that they tend to work in conjunction with other things that you do to increase metabolism rather than as stand alone products. Things like caffeine and green tea based drinks and supplements will boost the metabolism to a small degree but you will not achieve weight loss with these products alone. You will need to use them in conjunction with exercise or a fair amount of physical exertion. Thus, unless you have a physical job, visit the gym a lot or play lots of tennis you won't see much change in your waistline.
The best method for increasing metabolism is to do regular aerobic and cardiovascular exercise because these activities burn a great deal of calories. Cardiovascular exercises require more oxygen that essentially stokes the burning of calories in the body. More energy is required and expended in completing a cardiovascular exercise than many common activities that might be seen as physical. So although doing the vacuuming or mowing the lawn is good exercise, it will not compare to an aerobic exercise in terms of calories burned.
For example, walking for 45 minutes burns less calories than running for twenty minutes and, of course, walking for 45 minutes burns more calories and sitting in a chair and watching TV for two hours!
Another thing that is good about cardiovascular or aerobic exercise is that it can increase metabolism to a level where the body is burning calories for several hours after the body has completed the workout. If you burn 200 calories running for half an hour, then the body may burn an additional 150 calories over the
next five hours that it would not have burned if you had not done this exercise. That’s 350 calories used up from one piece of exercise. Not a bad for someone looking to increase metabolism.
